Leeds, Brandon, Brandon Crescent – Rebuild LV OHL with ABC. ESQCR

This work has been identified to be carried out under: – WP14/02 – Replace LV OH with ABC.
2009 Programme with medium priority. WP14/07 – LV OHL Clearance to Buildings.
Location Brandon Crescent Leeds. Access from Shadwell Village.
Ground condition. Long rough road without footpath. Many mature trees. Wild verges in parts.
1094 Low Brandon 50kVA 3 phase PE substation supplies 9 consumers via 1950”s isolated LV OHL network.
Survey reports LV OHL network to be in poor condition with low ground clearance and ESQCR OHL safety clearance to buildings A design study shows that the existing network is within Voltage but outside the original 400mOhm Deign ELZ.
It is proposed to rebuild the LV OHL with 120mm ABC and with 4 new OH concentric services.
The new network will meet the original 400mOhm Design ELZ.
To reduce consumer minutes lost the cost of a HV OHL – Hot Section point is included.
This scheme covers the financial and network authorisations only. No works are to commence until all agreements are in place. Wayleaves and OHL Survey have been requested by work Programme Design. Replies to be sent direct to the Construction Dept.
Alternatives options considered and reason for rejection.
1)    Replace LV OHL with underground cables. – Limited excavations space, open drains and mature trees.
2)    Reduce length of LV OHL with additional PE substation. – Similar HV OHL route length and additional costs.
3)    Obtain LV connection from nearby PE substation. – Hillside and heavy woodland blocking direct routes
